These Tuesdays you can follow online workshops and livestreams via CareerFairy on the cutting edge of skills, career and wellbeing. Next to the different streams, we also offer extra cv-checks and speedcoaching during these days.

En hoe jij ook online het beste uit de verf komt tijdens het solliciteren? Wat je kan doen om je zo optimaal mogelijk voor te bereiden? Marjolein en Arjen helpen je hoe het perspectief van de werkgever werkt en hoe je daar effectief op kunt inspelen op basis van hun ervaringen bij de Politie, Achmea, EY en de Universiteit Utrecht. /

11:00 - Omgaan met tijd en taken (NL)
Een agenda vol met taken en verantwoordelijkheden: is dat voor jou ook een bekend fenomeen? Hoe zorg je dat je inspanningen effectief en efficiënt zijn én dat je zelf in balans blijft met alles wat op je afkomt?

In deze training ga je aan de slag met een aantal modellen en inzichten op het gebied van timemanagement. Deze helpen om taken te prioriteren en te ordenen. We maken onderscheid tussen wat urgent en wat belangrijk is en oefenen met een methode om ‘zaken gedaan te krijgen’. Daarnaast onderzoeken we welke werkstijl bij jou past, zodat alle voordelen ervan kunt benutten en de valkuilen (zoveel mogelijk) kunt voorkomen.

12:00 - Picturing your research: The what, how and why in your thesis. (ENG)

It is easy to get lost while working on your thesis. That is why, in this workshop, we offer a tool for getting a clear picture and road map of your thesis. Picturing the what, the why (goal) and how (road) will help you finding your path, keeping on track and making decisions.

13:00 - Energy management (ENG)
As a student you have to often switch between different roles and responsibilities. Even more, the border between study and private live can be blurred as a result from long hours, deadlines and internships. Therefore it is important to recharge yourself enough, and to find a balance between studying and relaxing.

In this workshop you will gain more insight in your personal energy management. You will discover that your personal battery consists of various components. Every component can run out of energy when you use it, and therefore needs to be recharged. What in live askes for more energy and what yields a higher engery level? How do you use your energy in a sustainable way? Moreover, in this workshop you will discover how boredom and working too hard can be intertwined with flow.

After following this workshop, you will have more grip on your own energypattern. This will lead to less spilled energy, more flow and a better study-private balance.

In this 45 min online workshop, Career Officer Kim Taverne will show you what a strong profile looks like, how to add different elements and how to describe them best. After this workshop, you will know how to further improve your profile.

13:00 - Job Interview (ENG) by TU Eindhoven
Even in these online times, finding a job or internship, and therefore applying for jobs, continues as usual. Do you know what is important in job applications? And how do you stand out best online while applying for a job? What can you do to prepare yourself as optimally as possible? Career Officer … will explain you the perspective of the employer and how you can respond effectively to it. The focus is placed on the conversation you have to get a job or internship. We’ll also dive in to how a vacancy works, what the actual need of the organization is, what is needed to fulfill the position and how you can convey with these insights.

12:00 - Stydying & writing from home: this is how to stay motivated (ENG)

You’re staring out of the window while you lay in bed with your laptop open. Once again you are expected to fill a full study day on your own. You used to have lectures and seminars which gave you something to work towards to. Now they are mostly online and keeping up with the study material is even more difficult. You really do want to study but somehow you seem unable to find the motivation to get started and keep going. During this webinar you will learn how motivation works and you will get practical insights that can help you get your study back on track.

10:00 - Career Services & PwC: New ways of working - Matching preferences from starters with employers (ENG)
David Lasschuijt is a former trainee of PwC’s People and Organisation practice. He studied Organizational Psychology in Utrecht and is now a Reward consultant. Arjen van Vliet is an alumni of faculty of Law and after working as a government trainee and consultant now manages the Career Services & SkillsLab of Utrecht University. They are both actively involved in research on the preferences of Dutch starters in (future) employers and their offerings, both material as immaterial such as workvalue’s and needed competences.
In the first part of this 50 minutes interactive presentation they will elaborate on their research and their findings. What are millennials looking for in their future employer? And what do they value most? In this interactive presentation we will compare your preferences with preferences of other Dutch students, which can help you in the process of finding a fitting job and employer. In the second part of the session Arjen en David will talk about what really is important at PwC, what they do, how the selection process works and how you can adapt/spin your knowledge and experience to have a better chance of being selected by PwC. Arjen will widen the discussion by giving insights from his daily work with students and other employers (from start-up to multinational). Hopefully you will joint hem in the chat so we can make this session as useful as possible for everyone.

Stress! Dat is iets waar we allemaal wel ervaring mee hebben, maar stress is voor iedereen anders. In deze sessie willen we met jullie gaan kijken naar de dingen die jou stress opleveren, maar tegelijkertijd ook kijken naar de dingen die je gelukkig maken en je goed laten voelen. Het doel van deze workshop is om meer bewustzijn te creëren van de dingen die invloed hebben op hoe jij je voelt. Door middel van mindfulness oefeningen en je zelf te laten nadenken over je patronen willen we je helpen meer inzicht te krijgen in je eigen stress.

Nu studeren voornamelijk van huis uit gebeurt, missen veel studenten een goed dagritme. Voor je het weet verzand je, ga je uitgestelgedrag vertonen en lukt het je niet om dingen gedaan te krijgen. Herken je dit en wil je meer grip krijgen op je eigen studeergedrag? Dan kan dit webinar je eerste stap in de goede richting zijn.

Tijdens het webinar krijg je handvatten aangereikt om je studiegedrag te in kaart te brengen. Waar besteed je eigenlijk allemaal tijd aan in een week? Wat zijn je belangrijkste tijdvreters? Op welke activiteiten kun je bezuinigen? Aan de hand van een stappenplan bespreken we wat er komt kijken bij het maken van een realistische studieplanning en wat je nodig hebt om deze uit te voeren. In this training you will learn all about how to show your talents on your CV and motivation letter in order to differentiate yourself from other applicants.

In deze sessie leer je hoe organisaties hun medewerkers selecteren en hoe je daar slim op in kunt spelen. We gaan in op hoe je LinkedIn kunt gebruiken om je kansen op een passende baan te vergroten. Ook is er aandacht voor het vinden vacatures en voor het benutten van je eigen netwerk bij het vinden van werk. Na het volgen van deze sessie heb je meer inzicht in hoe je toekomstige werkgevers kunt benaderen en ben je je bewuster van de potentie van je eigen netwerk.
12:00 - Scriptie: hoe maak je een effectieve structuur?
Je hebt je eerste tekst deels op papier, je hebt je eerste onderzoeksresultaten, je hebt wat eerste feedback, nu is het tijd om een goede structuur neer te zetten. De coaches van het SkillsLab leggen je in 45 minuten uit hoe je dat aan pakt.
What makes a text well (tightly) structured? Of course: clear thoughts. But certainly also: good paragraphs. In this workshop you will learn a few simple but very effective strategies to improve the structure of your text.
